April 14th, Rhapsody in Black: A Harlem Speakeasy

Shhh... Have you heard?

CURA is cordially inviting you (in strictest confidence) to our third annual Literary Speakeasy to launch of our Spring 2016 issue. In honor of our 2015 - 2016 issues dedicated to Black Lives Matter, we're celebrating in Harlem Renaissance style.

Join us for poetry readings, free-flowing libations and an artisanal chocolate tasting. To enter the Speakeasy, just whisper the title of CURA’s Fall 2015 Issue to the gentleperson at the door. (I know you already know—but it’s Fulcrum.)

Come disturb the peace with your fellow literary revolutionaries. Costumes are encouraged.

Here's everything you need to know about the open wine bar and chocolate tasting—but keep it on the hush-hush:

LAST WEEK! Black Art Matters: A Fundraiser for Cave Canem & CURA

In 2015 - 2016, CURA magazine issues are dedicated to the theme of Black Lives Matter. We are resolved to gather voices, art and action toward the struggle for racial justice. To this end, CURA is sponsoring this Black Art Matters fundraiser to support the production of our issues and scholarships for Cave Canem’s historic retreat for black poets.

Called "the major watering hole and air pocket for black poetry" by poet Nikky Finney, Cave Canem has grown from an initial gathering of 26 poets to become an influential movement with a renowned faculty and a high-achieving national fellowship of over 300. Its programs include an annual week-long retreat, first and second book prizes with prestigious presses, Legacy Conversations with pre-eminent black poets and scholars, Poets on Craft talks, writing workshops, publications and national readings.

Will you join us in our support and celebration of black artists?

There's only a week left to reach our fundraising goal of $2,000 for Cave Canem and our Black Lives Matter issue! Click the button below to make a donation and claim donation perks, including:
